What sort of books do we publish?
At Shooting Star we publish everyone’s stories. We are about connecting people through stories, and building communities through connections. We publish biographies and autobiographies, fiction and speculative fiction for both adults and children. We particularly love stories written by children, for children, and stories from real people, real lives that can help other lives. What’s your story and how can we help you tell it?
Copyright for both printed and electronic versions of all Shooting Star books always remains with the author/s and the illustrator/s. This is explicitly spelled out in the contracts that Shooting Star signs with all our authors.
Currently we sell our books on line, through our website and social media, and we will ship overseas if people or book shops order directly from us. See www.shootingstar.pub
We publish through the Print on Demand service Lightening Source/Ingram Sparks, and they distribute for us internationally at the request of overseas buyers.
We publish our books in both Kindle and iBooks formats meaning the e-book versions appear on Amazon and in the iBooks store in iTunes.
We are looking at engaging an Australian Distributor to get books into all the bigger book shops and chains in Australia.
Marketing and Publicity
If you sign on with Shooting Star firstly, we agree a release date. Then, straight away we kick off marketing campaign including signing announcements, cover release announcement, a book launch, a web page on our website for both you and your book, press releases, social media campaigns on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, paid advertisements in applicable spots, review copies being sent to relevant journals, print and internet journalists and academics, and others you think would be helpful in promoting the book. We will enter the book in relevant literary prizes and also offer it to the various Writer’s Festivals and literary celebrations over the next twelve to eighteen months. We will do our very best to see that your book reaches the widest possible audience and sells as well as we can sell it.
